Summary

  • GENERAL SUMMARY
    • Provides spiritual care to patients, families and staff through visitation, pastoral counseling, crisis intervention, bereavement support and follow up. Reports to the Manager of Chaplaincy Services.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Utilizes a variety of religious and spiritual resources and interventions to access and meet spiritual needs of diverse patient population. 
    • Serves as a resource to staff regarding specific skill demonstration, promotion of knowledge and communication. 
    • Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic care. 
    • Serves as a resource for patients/families/staff reflecting on ethical issues.
    • Demonstrates responsibility/accountability for professional growth and development related to job knowledge and skill competence.
    • Participates with the Manager in establishing departmental objectives and processes to achieve desired outcomes.
    • Provides effective mentorship and skills demonstration to peers as necessary.  
    • Performs other duties as assigned. 
  • LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
    • None
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    • Graduation from an accredited college. 
    • Theological education with Masters of Divinity degree or equivalent. 
    • Completion of basic Clinical Pastoral Education (minimum of four units of CPE). 
    • Ordination or commission to function in ministry by an approved denominational authority.
    • Minimum of one year pastoral experience, including work with children.
    • Experience in mental health care a plus.
    • Increased Security Clearance Required for Job Roles in Medical Tower II: FBI fingerprinting, criminal background check, and Child Protective Services registry search.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS
    • Patient care environment with exposure to environmental hazards including, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust or extremes in temperature.  Exposure the communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to patient related activities.
