Summary

  • GENERAL SUMMARY
    • Under the direction of a physician, the Cardiac Cath Lab RN assists in cardiac catheterization as well as vascular and interventional procedures. Reports to department leadership.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Assists physician in all aspects of cardiac invasive and non-invasive testing, diagnostic laboratory tests and procedures following established policies, procedures and regulations.
    • Educates patients and families.
    • Participates in research projects.
    • Maintains cardiac cath lab and other diagnostic equipment.
    • Initiates on-going quality assurance.
    • Maintains regulatory requirements.
    • Assists in establishing and updating cath lab policies and procedures.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
    • Current State licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    • Bachelor’s degree in nursing and 1-3 years related work experience required. 
    • Knowledge and skill in invasive procedures protocols, equipment and instrumentation specific to cardiac invasive procedures preferred. 
    • Interpersonal skills necessary for effective communication with physicians, nursing personnel and other clinicians. 
    • CPR training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire. 
    • PALS and ACLS certification required and/or must be obtained within 12 months of hire.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS
    • Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities can be expected.
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

M-F (7a-330p), rotating weekday call from 330p-7a; rotating weekend and holiday call (7a-7a).
