Summary

  • GENERAL SUMMARY
    • Plans, provides, and monitors individualized nursing care in response to specific patient needs within a defined scope of practice; following established policies, procedures, and regulations. Supports a defined population program or service. Reports to departmental management.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Provides developmentally appropriate, high acuity psychosocial and clinical care respective to the assigned patient population.
    • Demonstrates excellence in nursing practice characterized by quality patient care and participation in formal and informal patient and staff education.
    • Communicates and collaborates effectively with all members of the healthcare team.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
    • Current Virginia state license as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse holding a valid Compact State license.
    • RN certification preferred.
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    • Must have an Associates in Nursing/Diploma in Nursing with applicable experience, however a BSN is preferred. If hired with an ADN, the candidate must complete a BSN program within three years from their date of hire. 
    • Pediatric experience preferred. 
    • If in the infusion clinic, minimum of 1 year experience in Hematology/Oncology preferred.
    • CPR Training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire.
    • PALS training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire for infusion clinic; within 6 months for inpatient.
    • APHON Pediatric Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Provider Status preferred or must be obtained within 120 days of hire.  
  • WORKING CONDITIONS
    • Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities can be expected.
