Summary

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Data Analyst (Mental Health) provides a strong analytical understanding to capture reports and aggregate data for the Mental Health Research Center at the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters. The Data Analyst provides high level understanding of relational and flat reporting databases, maintaining data integrity and security to keep data management system current. Reports to Director of Mental Health Service Line. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designs, codes, maintains and enhances reporting and dashboards systems to meet the needs of the Mental Health Research Center. 
  • Collaborates with department personnel and IS Data Analytics to gather reporting requirements, assimilate complex data across multiple sources, builds data connections when necessary and provide information needed for data-driven decisions.
  • Documents the design, coding and utilization of data, following IS Data Analytics reporting standards and best practices.  
  • Gathers an understanding of business procedures to assess and organize data needed for research, compliance, and normal business practices.
  • Cleansing of data, screening, and applying statistical methods and algorithms may be necessary to predict the meaning of the data.  

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

  • None required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
  • 2 - 4 years in Data/Business/System Analyst role in a Mental Health or Healthcare setting preferred. 
  • Demonstrated ability in data analysis.
  • Ability to translate detailed and complex data into understandable conclusions and offer valued solutions.
  • Must have demonstrated organizational skills, the ability to manage a large volume of work, tight deadlines, and frequently shifting priorities.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience utilizing large, patient databases (i.e. electronic health records, administrative claims, adverse event report database). 
    • Familiarity with Tableau, Business Objects, and/or PowerBI.
    • Familiarity with R, SPSS, and/or STATA.
