Summary

  • GENERAL SUMMARY
    • The Research Peer Navigator will support families in pediatric primary care in navigating mental health services for their children and share knowledge related to lived experiences of being a parent with a young child with special needs. Reports to the Director of Research Administration.

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Collaborates with the Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation team.
    • Collaborates with each medical home to support the integration of early childhood mental health consultation in primary care.
    • Supports universal screening for adverse social determinants of health by connecting families with needed services and supports.
    • Provides care navigation and follows up for families involved with infant and early childhood mental health consultation.
    • Promotes healthy family functioning for families by providing information about children’s needs.
    • Tracks outcomes of recommended community and clinical referrals and recommendations.
    • Performs other tasks as assigned.
  • LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
    • None
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    • Associate’s degree or above is required, bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Experience using Microsoft products is preferred.
    • Lived experience navigating healthcare system and/ or mental health services as a caregiver of a child with special needs (developmental, physical, or mental health) is strong preferred.
    • Strong organizational abilities including effective time management skills, able to manage multiple tasks at the same time and respond in a timely manner
    • Ability to thoroughly document work on an ongoing basis.
    • Empathy for families under stress, high level of organization, exceptional professionalism, excellent communication skills with families and professionals are required
    • Successful applicants must be flexible, able to accept direction, and participate in formal and informal training about early childhood mental health.
    • Strong communication skills, particularly while engaging over the phone.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS
    • Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
