GENERAL SUMMARY
-
The Research Peer Navigator will support families in pediatric primary care in navigating mental health services for their children and share knowledge related to lived experiences of being a parent with a young child with special needs. Reports to the Director of Research Administration.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Collaborates with the Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation team.

Collaborates with each medical home to support the integration of early childhood mental health consultation in primary care.

Supports universal screening for adverse social determinants of health by connecting families with needed services and supports.

Provides care navigation and follows up for families involved with infant and early childhood mental health consultation.

Promotes healthy family functioning for families by providing information about children’s needs.

Tracks outcomes of recommended community and clinical referrals and recommendations.

Performs other tasks as assigned.

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
-
Associate’s degree or above is required, bachelor’s degree preferred.

Experience using Microsoft products is preferred.
-
Lived experience navigating healthcare system and/ or mental health services as a caregiver of a child with special needs (developmental, physical, or mental health) is strong preferred.

Strong organizational abilities including effective time management skills, able to manage multiple tasks at the same time and respond in a timely manner

Ability to thoroughly document work on an ongoing basis.

Empathy for families under stress, high level of organization, exceptional professionalism, excellent communication skills with families and professionals are required

Successful applicants must be flexible, able to accept direction, and participate in formal and informal training about early childhood mental health.

Strong communication skills, particularly while engaging over the phone.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
