Summary

  • GENERAL SUMMARY
    • The RN – Specialty Nurse (Sedation) performs a wide variety of patient care activities and accommodative services to support a defined patient population program or service.  Reports to the Practice Manager/Supervisor and works in close cooperation with and under the clinical guidance of the practice physician(s).
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Performs a wide variety of patient care activities and accommodative services to support a defined patient population program or service. 
    • Plans and coordinates care to support prescribed medical care and timely flow of patients in the practice setting.
    • Provides developmentally appropriate psychosocial and clinical care.
    • Prepares patient and assists provider with examinations, treatments and procedures. 
    • Monitors and documents response to and outcomes of prescribed care. 
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
    • Current Virginia state license as a Registered Nurse or Registered Nurse holding a valid Compact State license.
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    • Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through the completion of an accredited School of Nursing.
    • Technical and professional knowledge and skills unique to the business and/or clinical services provided, usually acquired through 3-5 years of progressive clinical experience in the related specialty.
    • Professional certification in the area of expertise or BSN, MSN or NP preferred.
    • Pediatric experience preferred. 
    • CPR Training required and/or must be obtained within 45 days of hire. 
    • PEARS training required within 90 days of employment. PALS training required within 6 months of hire.
    • Nurses who assist with cardiac procedures are required to obtain ACLS training within 12 months of hire
  • WORKING CONDITIONS
    • Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities can be expected.  
  • PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Additional Information

This position requires Monday - Friday availability with Sedation days starting at 6:45am.
