Summary

  • GENERAL SUMMARY
    • The Physical Therapist is responsible for managing the needs of the patient in the physical therapy intervention by reviewing, revising, and implementing techniques or discharging physical therapy services as deemed appropriate. Is knowledgeable about evidence in the practitioner’s areas of practice and documentation is consistent with the Guidelines for Physical Therapy Documentation (BOD 02-02-16-20). Reports to department leadership.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Practices according to the Code of Ethics of the APTA and complies with all the legal requirements regulating the practice of physical therapy.
    • Directs the Physical Therapist Assistant in carrying out assigned duties as it relates to plan of care.  Participates in the education of physical therapy students.
    • Assures continued competency of professional performance, knowledge and skill as evidenced by professional development and maintaining current knowledge related to all aspects of practice.
    • Systematically assesses the efficiency and effectiveness of physical therapy services, designs and implements processes to support quality service delivery.
    • Performs other duties as assigned. 
  • LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
    • Current state licensure as required by laws or regulations.
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    • Knowledge of physical therapy assessment tools, intervention techniques, modalities, and equipment.
    • CPR certification.
    • Demonstrates organizational and interpersonal skills.
    • Previous pediatric experience preferred.
    • Proficient PC skills. 
    • Ability to meet on call requirements of department.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS
    • Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards such as, but not limited to, excessive noise, dust, or extremes in temperatures. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities can be expected.
