Summary

  • GENERAL SUMMARY
    • The Informatics Coordinator oversees and facilitates medical and clinical information systems for the planning, research, development, implementation and evaluation medical and clinical information systems and services for practices within CHKDHS in coordination with information services. Seeks guidance from the Director and/or upper management for unusual or unanticipated circumstances. Reports to designated Director / Manager.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Works effectively through all phases of system development to effectively meet the needs of the practices and regulatory requirements for medical and clinical information systems.
    • Works closely with IS professionals, practice, and department personnel; functions as a liaison, coordinating system implementation, maintenance, training and support for staff; and resolves functional and technical systems issues.
    • Works collaboratively on various teams and committees in support of CHKDHS informatics processes.
    • Maintains knowledge of trends and advances in the field of healthcare informatics.
    • Recommends process improvements and system development.
    • Analyzes complex operations and structure processes to facilitate decision making regarding information systems. 
    • Develops and modifies policies and procedures impacted by information systems.
    • Actively participates in conferences and professional organizations related to information system. 
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
    • Informatics certification preferred.
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    • Professional knowledge of management information systems at a level normally acquired through obtaining a Bachelor's degree in informatics system management or related specialty, and/or equivalent experience required with a minimum of 3 years experience in the health care industry.
    • Demonstrates the ability to be self directed with excellent organizational, analytical, writing, interpersonal and project management skills necessary.
    • Expertise in Microsoft office software applications and operating systems.
    • Must possess critical systems thinking as it relates to system analysis, design, implementation and evaluation.
    • Understanding of basic concepts related to information system application and use.
    • Ability to identify and analyze problems and implement solutions for operational functions.
    • Ability to relate well with providers, leaders, and multiple departments.
    • Ability to effectively gather and exchange information through oral, written and formal reporting processes.
    • Technical and professional knowledge and skills unique to the business (regulatory, governing, compliance and auditing processes).
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule with planned evening and weekend hours to meet training and go live implementation.
    • Must be able to travel and possess a valid Virginia Drivers license and be able to meet the insurance requirement of the organization. 
  • WORKING CONDITIONS
    • A clinical patient care environment with minimal exposure to hazards such as excess noise, dust, or extremes in temperature. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, body fluids and other conditions common to the healthcare environment. Moderate adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities.
