Summary

  • GENERAL SUMMARY
    • The Scientific Grant Writer is responsible for drafting scientific research reports, assisting in manuscript preparation, and obtaining funding through grant applications. This role will play a key part in the Research Department by helping to share research findings and increase federal, state, foundation, and corporate grant support. Reports to departmental leadership.

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Research & Compose:
      • Crafts compelling, science-backed grant proposals to secure funding for research projects.
      • Researches and identifies funding opportunities by analyzing grants, aligning them with research goals, and ensuring eligibility to secure resources.
      • Researches and writes articles relating to the research performed.
      • Compiles and integrates data from multiple sources for comprehensive analysis, writing scientific manuscripts, presentations, and regulatory submissions.
      • Writes reports to funders detailing how money was utilized.
    • Departmental Support:
      • Works with the Director to develop realistic project budgets for funding proposals.
      • Stays updated with trends in grant writing and funding opportunities.
    • Administrative Oversight:
      • Contributes to strategy and planning meetings.
      • Crafts effective progress reports that fully capture programmatic success with a focus on outcome measurement and impact stories.
      • Keeps detailed records of all grant activities and maintain relationships with funders. 
    • Performs all other duties as assigned.

  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    • Required Education and Experience
      • A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in a Science-related field. A bachelor’s degree in English/Literature will also be considered with demonstrated exposure to scientific competencies.
      • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in grant writing.
    • Preferred Education and Experience
      • Experience in academic research is highly preferred.
    • Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
      • Excellent written communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals for various types of audiences.
      • Strong research skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS
    • Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
