Summary

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Fortify Medical Director is responsible for the planning, development, implementation and ongoing management of clinical programs in support of the vision of Fortify to facilitate opportunities for children in the Commonwealth of Virginia to reach optimal health of children by providing access to the highest quality health care. The Medical Director will lend leadership and medical/clinical expertise to provide an environment that encourages the highest quality healthcare while simultaneously reducing the total cost of care. The Medical Director will have a highly visible role as the medical voice for clinicians and contracted members and primary medical representative.  Reports to the Executive Director and work closely with the Fortify Directors and advisory committees and the leadership of the two founding members.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the medical aspects of all clinical operations of the CIN in accordance with its vision and strategic plan by providing medical expertise to the Fortify Leadership.  
  • Provides medical expertise to strengthen and expand provider network to improve access and sustainability of the Fortify network.
  • Fosters an environment of professional involvement, excellence and inclusiveness, and promotes an atmosphere of teamwork and collaboration while actively engaging with the advisory committees and Board meetings.
  • Partners with all leaders across Fortify to advance policies and best practices that improve children’s health.
  • Develops, implements and supports the strategic imperatives and success of Fortify.
  • Directs day to day oversight and supervision of the Regional Medical Directors to facilitate and enhance clinical engagement with each of the clinical participants and to support effective communication across the Fortify Network.  
  • Supervises the Manager of Care Management Services who supports integration of care management capacity into clinical programming to advance the mission and vision of Fortify.
  • Works collaboratively with all Fortify Directors with close alignment with the Director of Clinical Operations as their key administrative dyad.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

     
LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

  • Active MD or DO Virginia license and American Board of Pediatrics certification required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Advanced degree in Health Care Management/Administration, Public Health, Business or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Pediatric healthcare leadership and management experience with demonstrated ability to successfully effectuate change.  
  • Specific experience in creating clinical value in the pediatric realm with improved processes, outcomes and lowering of cost of care.
  • Proficient skills in word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and other applicable software.  
  • Works well independently and also demonstrates the ability to work on project teams. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, self-confidence, assertiveness, diplomacy and respect for confidentiality necessary.
  • Travel may be required across the Fortify network utilizing personal vehicle.
  • Must be available to work nights/weekends.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust and temperature.
