GENERAL SUMMARY
-
The Transplant Financial Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the financial aspects of care throughout the transplant process. Responsibilities include but not limited to, verifying insurance eligibility, obtaining insurance authorizations and serving as a knowledgeable resource to the transplant team. Reports to the Patient Account Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits for transplant services.

Obtains insurance authorizations related to transplant services.

Obtains transplant pharmacy authorizations.
-
Serves as a resource to the patient for insurance coverage and billing inquires.

Acts as a liaison to the transplant team to ensure financial coverage for transplant services.

Performs a variety of patient accounting functions to ensure timely collection and processing of hospital accounts receivable.

Performs other duties as assigned.

LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
-
Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Minimum of one to three years of experience working in patient financial services, transplant financial counseling, and/or transplant insurance authorizations.

Comprehensive knowledge of medical/pharmaceutical terminology required.

Prior transplant experience a plus.

Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.

Interpersonal skills necessary in order to effectively gather and exchange information in both oral and written communications.

Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
