Summary

  • GENERAL SUMMARY
    • Under the general supervision of Chief Legal Officer and Director of Legal Services, the Paralegal will perform paralegal duties for the Legal Services department.   Assists in providing contracting, regulatory, and general legal support to the health system and its subsidiaries.  A high level of independence in performance of the role and/or solution of problems is expected; however, demonstrated cooperation and collaboration is equally essential for successful functioning.

  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Under the supervision of the Chief Legal Officer and Director of Legal Services, drafts and reviews legal documents in support of the health system. Documents may relate to real estate, HIPAA compliance, corporate acquisitions, professional services agreements, employment agreements, grant funding agreements, general business contracts, etc.
    • Accepts service of process and delivers to appropriate health system representative as needed.
    • Establishes rapport and positive working relationships and works collaboratively with internal and external contacts to facilitate the timely completion of projects. 
    • Manages the flow of requests for agreements and inquiries made to the Legal Services department.
    • Performs research on legal and business issues as needed. 
    • Performs corporate minute book maintenance, regulatory filings, and preparation of resolutions and corporate documents as needed.
    • Anticipates administrative needs of those supported by gathering and maintaining records, reports, correspondences, data and other related information for effective decision-making purposes.
    • May require workflow analysis, process improvement, project management assistance, and thorough knowledge of supervisors’ areas of responsibility.
    • Maintains integrity of confidential information.
    • May perform administrative support tasks as needed, including screening telephone calls/visitors, scheduling meetings, maintaining files, distributing mail, ordering supplies, processing invoices, tracking continuing legal education coursework, etc.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
    • Paralegal certification required.
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field preferred. 
    • Associates Degree in Legal Assisting (General Practice) or closely related field required.
    • Minimum of two to four year of Paralegal experience or five to seven years of progressively more responsible Legal Assistant experience required. 
    • Demonstrates proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Outlook and Excel). 
    • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communications skills necessary. Excellent interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate with multiple departments, callers, visitors, and various levels of management.
    • Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills necessary in a fast-paced environment.
    • Proven ability to effectively maintain alphabetic and/or numeric filing systems and organize work load. 
    • Previous experience in data analysis and management preferred. 
    • Demonstrates the ability to analyze and problem solve independently.   
    • Notary designation preferred.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS
    • Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
