Summary

  • GENERAL SUMMARY
    • The Reimbursement Manager is the technical expert responsible for managing all reimbursement reporting and accounting including summarizing, analyzing and interpreting financial information, preparing annual Medicare/Medicaid and other cost reports, conveying their financial implications, and preparing other related analysis. This individual must have a sound understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as they are also responsible for preparing monthly and year-end closing entries for the revenue cycle including patient receivables and contractual reserves. Responsible for coordinating this critical accounting process with various external auditors. This individual must be able to interface significantly with senior leadership, other peers throughout the organization and external constituents to interpret and provide executive level summaries of current Medicaid and related legislation at the state and federal level, which serve to assist in developing strategies to achieve and maintain the most preferable reimbursements for the hospital from governmental and commercial payers. Reports to department leadership.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Manages all reimbursement reporting and accounting including summarizing, analyzing and interpreting financial information.
    • Prepares monthly and year-end closing entries for the revenue cycle including patient receivables and contractual reserves.
    • Keeps abreast of legislative changes in healthcare reform at the federal and state level, assessing and quantifying the impacts on the organization, and educating the organization as to upcoming changes.
    • Performs other duties as assigned. 
  • LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
    • CPA designation required.
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or closely related discipline.
    • Seven to ten years of progressively more responsible reimbursement and/or relevant experience preferred. 
    • Must possess strong critical thinking, analytical and organizational skills necessary to summarize and interpret financial information from a variety of sources. 
    • Ability to communicate complex technical information effectively in a very dynamic working environment. 
    • Strong knowledge of mainframe and PC based systems. 
    • Must be proficient in advanced Microsoft Excel.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS
    • Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
