Summary

  • GENERAL SUMMARY
    • The IS Business Support Service Manager is responsible for the daily planning, work scheduling and coordination, and operational performance of the individual supporting business information systems throughout the health system.  The manager retains 24-hour responsibility, but may utilize supervisory staff to operationalize activities.  Independently carries out assigned responsibilities, seeking guidance from the director and/or upper management given unusual or unanticipated circumstances that require deviation of policy/practice or allocation of funds to resolve. Reports to department leadership.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Serves as project manager for business system implementations. 
    • Works closely with vendors on software installations and issues.
    • Serves as a resource to staff regarding specific skill demonstration, promotion of knowledge and communication. 
    • Promotes and adheres to departmental and organizational information systems security policies, standards and procedures.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATIONS
    • None
  • MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
    • Professional knowledge of areas of responsibility in order to direct planning and implementation at a level normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
    • 5+ years of healthcare/healthcare IS experience required.
    • Experience supporting Business systems required.
    • IS project experience required. 
    • Excellent organization, communication, and written skills required.
    • Must be able to plan, supervise and establish a professional working environment within areas of responsibility. 
    • Besides managerial activities, must possess the ability to identify problems and implement solutions for operational and organizational issues. 
    • Interpersonal skills necessary in order to direct and assign work to subordinates, explain hospital and department policies and procedures and communicate effectively with other professionals.
  • WORKING CONDITIONS
    • Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, temperature and the like.
